Much colder air has overspread most of North and West Alabama. Just before 5 am, the main band of precipitation was over East Alabama and down into South Alabama.

Temperatures were as cold as 23 in Haleyville. A number of reports from Skywatchers of some snow accumulation mostly over the north and west parts of the state. Several report of one inch and maybe one report of 1.5 inches.

In the Birmingham Area, there was a mix of rain and flurries but little accumulation. Today’s high will only be in the 30s and the temperature will fall below freezing quickly this evening with an overnight low of 22. Can’t rule out some black ice again.

We could also see some black ice during this morning’s rush hour. So please allow extra time for morning drive. Several reports of icing in places like Cullman County. We will still see some flurries off and on.

A Winter Storm Warning still in effect for the far NE corner of Alabama and a Winter Weather Advisory for St. Clair County eastward. Jefferson County not included.
