Thanks to ABC 33/40 Skywatcher Kristie Calvin for these images… she writes:

“Hi James:

I hope all is going well for you! Since this is the longest day of the year, Alaskans celebrate in numerous ways. On Saturday night, Mike and I walked the Midnight Sun Run 10k race. The race started at 10:00 p.m. We had beautiful sunshine. Tonight, we are going to watch the Fairbanks Gold Panners play a baseball game at midnight. We also had the Midnight Sun Festival. With this abundance of daylight (almost 22 hours), I was able to get a snapshot of the sun setting at 12:48 a.m. Unfortunately, I did not stay up to see the sun rise at 2:58 a.m.

With all this daylight, our garden is growing! My broccoli plants have over doubled in size in the past 3 weeks. Also, the wildflowers are in full bloom. I hope you enjoy the pictures. God bless!

Enjoy your Summer Solstice!
Kristie”
