Those thunderstorms over West Alabama tonight, sure have been lazy. They formed up in Walker County early in the evening, moved into West Jefferson County and late tonight they were moving slowly south, mainly over Tuscaloosa County and SW Jefferson County. Other showers forming out ahead were down into Bibb County and NE Hale County.

At 11:00 p.m., the heaviest rain was over North Tuscaloosa County north of the Tuscaloosa/Northport area extending up into the south edge of Fayette County.

Some fairly good rain also continues over SW Jefferson County.

Further east some other showers and storms were over East-Central Alabama and South Talladega and Tallapoosa Counties.

Here are some rain amounts through 11:00 p.m.:

0.20 South Hueytown
0.36 McCalla
0.23 Concord/Hueytown line
0.39 Alabaster (Navajo Pines)
0.69 Jemison (almost all of that fell this afternoon)

Nice part about this cluster of storms–they are slow movers and the rain is not so extremely heavy that it all runs off. This is a good soaker. This may be our last update until early morning unless something unusual happens. We will be here in case any of these storms intensify, which is not likely this late.
