The strong low pressure area that gave Alabama a windy day was centered near Nashville late this afternoon. It was headed NE toward Central Kentucky.
Colder air is spreading SE behind the low. The wind shift line, or cold front was over NW Mississippi.
It was a cold 38 in Memphis at 4 pm with brisk NW winds.
At 4:30 pm, only a few spots of light rain over North Alabama. The rain is a bit more extendive over North Mississippi and West Tennessee.
Here in Central Alabama, look for some intermittent light rain overnight. As it turns colder, there is an outside chance of a few flurries toward daybreak but not enough to cause any problems whatsoever. In fact, most folks will probably not see any.
Best chance of any change over to light snow would be closer to the Tennessee River.
DOWN THE ROAD: A significant storm system may affect Alabama late this week with locally heavy rain and some strong thunderstorms. Best time window for that appears to be late Friday, Friday night and into Saturday.
We can fine-tune the timing later.
