A number of showers and thunderstorms in progress. Let’s try to separate them into groups.
1. A line of low-top thunderstorms over East/Central Alabama from North Talladega County to East Shelby County moving slowly west. The tops of these storms are easily visible from Trussville. They are not the real high anvil-type, instead they are the round oval and smooth tops and the reflection of the sun this time of day creates a pretty sight.
2. A broad line of showers and thunderstorms further south from North Sumter and Green Counties in West Alabama eastward to Selma and Montgomery. There are some downpours of rain in a number of those. Not much movement.
3. Numerous showers and thunderstorms over extreme South Alabama moving very little.
4. A smaller group of lesser showers over NW Alabama in Winston, Marion and Franklin Counties. They seem to be creeping toward the SE.
There is still a slight chance of a shower or thunderstorm during high school games tonight with a slightly better chance in the first half. However, based on radar trends most of the stadiums in East Alabama from about Gadsden and Oneonta northward to Ft. Payne and Scottsboro and Guntersville may get by with very little threat.
