Showers and a few thunderstorms spread into SW Alabama late this afternoon from Mississippi.
At 5:20 pm, most of those showers were from about Livingston and Monroeville southward.
Intense thunderstorms were roaming much of Mississippi with an enormous amount of lightning. They were moving NE and some of those were not too far from from the Alabama border. So we may have to deal with some thunderstorms in West Alabama this evening.
A Tornado Watch is still in effect for much of Mississippi and it almost touches the Alabama border.
Much of Arkansas, North Louisiana, NE Texas and West Mississippi continues under a Moderate Risk of severe weather.
Tomorrow, almost all of Alabama is under a Moderate Risk. Not out of the question for some areas somewhere in the region to experience a High Risk.
Saturday and Saturday night is the main time for the Alabama severe weather event. Everyone is urged to keep in touch with a good source of weather information. This is a very dangerous situation and there is even the possibility that we could have a few violent, long track tornadoes. Most of the time, a tornado that stays on the ground a long time is one of the stronger ones.
We will have frequent updates on this blog all night tonight and all day Saturday.
