Some strong thunderstorms continue over the NW corner of Alabama late this afternoon. They have affected mainly Lauderdale, Colbert and part of Franklin Counties. They were moving toward the SSW.

They have more than enough lightning. (Scroll down to see some prior information from the NWS/Huntsville.)

Those storms are part of a larger cluster over West Tennessee and extreme North Mississippi. Off to the east, there was another smaller cluster of thunderstorms over extreme North Georgia. They are moving WSW. We will watch them in case they try to enter NE Alabama.

Otherwise, it is not winter, autumn or spring in Alabama any more. It is plain old summerlike, even though summer is 8 more days away. Some 4:00 temperatures across Alabama:

78 Muscle Shoals (cooled by the showers)
93 Huntsville
91 Decatur
89 Haleyville
88 Gadsden
94 Tuscaloosa
88 Birmingham, but heat index of 90
93 Montgomery
88 Shelby County Airport
89 Anniston
90 Auburn
94 Evergreen and Mobile
93 Dothan
