Over in Extreme east Alabama, the heaviest rain at 10 pm was from NE Talladega County, across the Oxford-Anniston area to near Heflin and southward into Clay and Randolph County.
When the rain reached Munford, they got 0.40 in about 15 minutes.
All the way to the other side of the state it was pouring rain across Marengo, South Hale, Sumter and Choctaw County. Showers were also developing northward into Tuscaloosa County.
Everything moving generally eastward. Lots of thunder and lightning.
Russell Thomas, one of our blog readers reports that when the storms developed over Jefferson and Shelby County late this afternoon, he received extremely heavy rain, about 1.50 inches and severe lightning. He lives in Crestline.
Thanks to John Brasher for a clarification where Highway 42 is in Shelby County. 42 turns off highway 70 one mile east of US 31 and runs SE to the Shelby Community, past the historic Shelby County Ironworks and crosses highway 47 in Shelby and then eastward to the Coosa-Shelby Shores area.
Thanks John! Dumb me, I was in that area and driving on part of that road just a few months ago.
At some point Sunday, we will probably get a watch in Alabama. Highest probability of that will be later in the day and at night, but we can’t rule out something earlier.
