The east 1/3 of Alabama has received little or no rain today, but that will change as the afternoon goes on and especially tonight into Wednesday morning.

At 10:20 a.m., most of the showers were over North/Central and West Alabama and extending southward to near the coast. This included a fairly large heavy shower along the Pickens/Lamar County line in West Alabama. It was also raining fairly heavy over Morgan County in the extreme north.

All of that was moving toward the NE. Lighter showers that were over Jefferson County earlier are moving out, but other showers near Moundville were moving into South Tuscaloosa County.

Probably the best news in all of this is that torrential rain that caused big flooding near the Alabama coast this morning has shifted mostly to the east and offshore, although South Baldwin County is still getting quite a bit.

LOOKING WEST
Showers were becoming more numerous over the east half of Mississippi. Those will still have to move across Alabama, but the strongest thunderstorms of all were in a line from North/Central Louisiana down to near Lake Charles and to near Galveston Bay. That line of storms was moving generally eastward with the individual thunderstorms moving NE. Most of the lightning was in that line of storms and also in another group of storms over West Tennessee east of Memphis and extending northward into the west edge of Kentucky.

Here is a run down of some of the South Alabama very heavy coastal rain this morning. Thanks to our 33/40 Skywatcher and sort of our designated RO (Rain Officer), Michelle Miklik, for assembling these reports.
8.97 Two miles NE of Orange Beach
7.82 Three miles ENE of Orange Beach
8.70 2.5 miles ENE of Orange Beach
5.55 Three miles SSW of Elberta
3.71 Foley

Those reports are all from Baldwin County through about 8:00 this morning. There are unofficial reports of 8 to 10 inches in the Gulf Shores area and some roads in the area were barricaded.
