Most of the heavier rain has shifted southward into the south half of the state. Most was along or south of the Montgomery-Marion-Greensboro line and still moving generally southward.

Meanwhile, we turn our wary eyes back to the NW where a very strong cluster of thunderstorms was over NW Mississippio and moving SE. We (believe) (hope) that this latest in a series of unfriendly storms will pass west of Alabama.

The last 24-36 hours has truly brought the most extensive heavy rain event than we have had in a long time. We will post a comprehensive (translation: long) list of rain amounts later but here is an early sample:

3.67 Pelham (thanks to long time friend and weather fan Herb Coleman)
4.02 South Trussville (Bill Murray)
4.61 Gardendale
2.35 Weaver
3.67 Roebuck
1.01 Jacksonville
3.23 NE Trussville (Peppertree)
3.16 Birmingham Airport
0.90 Anniston Airport
1.36 Shelby County Airport
1.09 Cullman Airport
3.43 Huntsville Airport
2.53 Vestavia Hills
3.37 Toney
2.83 NE of Lake Purdy
2.76 Moody
