Eastward progress of our much awaited rain is slow, slow, slow.

Maybe not as slow as a turtle but I believe i could almost walk that fast.

Actually, one narrow band of showers has already moved over into East Alabama. At 10:45, the band extended from Fort Payne and Scottsboro southward to Talladega and Clanton. Heavier in the NE corner of the state.

The wider band of rain and showers still across NW and West Alabama extending generally from Huntsville-Decatur southwest to Lamar County. The slow eastward movement is good because it allows better amounts and a steady rain.

Nearest rain to Birmingham at 10:45 was about 35 to 40 miles west and NW.

Doppler radar estimates that some areas such as parts of Lamar and Marion County may have over two inches in the rain bucket so far.

Thanks to our official 33/40 Skywatcher RO (Rain Officer) Michelle Miklik for assembling these additional reports:

NEED AN ANSWER
Got an interesting email from Atlanta this morning asking if there has ever been an occasion when a blizzard and hurricane was in progress at the same time–especially one as close by as the Caribbean? I have an idea that Bill Murray knows without even looking at the records. If any of you know, let us know. I don’t remember one in my “short” life

DEADWOOD
That famous weather spot in South Dakota got 45.7 inches of snow from this storm. That is the actual amount, not counting drifts!
