The Tornado Watch for Extreme SW Alabama expires at 11 am The latest Tornado Watch for Extreme SE Alabama lasts until 4 pm, CST. It only includes five counties:
Coffee
Henry
Dale
Houston
Geneva
At 10:45 am, most of the heaviest rain and stronger storms were over in East Central and SE Alabama,
Western third of the state getting a break from the rain.
In a late morning update, the NWS/Storm Prediction Center has, once again, extended the slight risk area further northward. It now covers all of Alabama except the Extreme NE Corner.
Another line of thunderstorms was expected to develop near the cold front west of Alabama and move eastward. So far, the only development is a small cluster in South Central Arkansas. But we will surely watch that.

12 reports of hail
13 reports of tornadoes
Does not mean that, for sure, 13 tornadoes have occurred. May get more than one report on the same tornado.
Most of these reports from South Mississippi and South Louisiana.
Probably hardest hit area is on the west side of New Orleans. Considerable damage at Westwego with about 20,000 without power. Several injuries. One news report mentioned one fatality.
More strong storms approaching the west coast of Florida moving toward Tampa.
