At 11 am, the nearest precipitation west of Alabama was over NE Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas and West Arkansas. It is a light wintry mix from extreme NE Texas northward.
Some of it is not reaching the ground, especially over West Arkansas.
You have to go back to Arkansas and West Louisiana to find thicker clouds. Still lots of sunshine Mississippi eastward.
A few spot reports:
30 in Greenwood, Miss., and sunny
37 in Shreveport, mostly cloudy
33 in Dallas and overcasat
Our good friend, Kevin Selle, reports a few snow flurries in Dallas, but they are good-sized flakes. He says they are very pretty. Kevin used to do weather on Channel 6 here in Birmingham, but he went under the name Kevin Collins at that time. He made famous a hat that he wore while on camera during the Blizzard of ’93. That old hat will surely wind up in the Weatherman’s Hat Hall of Fame.
ALABAMA
Back home for just a second. As mentioned above, if you will scroll down, there is plenty of information on what we expect here. The NWS in Huntsville says that 1 to 2 inches of snow could accumulate in places like DeSoto State Park, Mentone, Ft. Payne and Scottsboro. Those locations, of course, are in extreme NE Alabama.
