I have been getting up early seemingly since just before I was born. I like the very early mornings…
But this morning, helping Bill do some posting. He and his family on a break driving all the way to Orlando area during the night. Hope he is sleeping late. He will still be doing some posting and Brian will have his morning video discussion soon.
ALABAMA AT 6:40 AM
Raining over the north 2/3 of the state and has been much of the night. Southeast Alabama has received very little and only about 1/3 inch Birmingham Airport so far.
At 6:40, some of the heaviest rain was over North Lamar adjacent to the Mississippi border and some moderate rain over Bibb, Perry and Chilton County in Central and West Central Alabama
Based on radar estimates, as much as three inchs of rain so far right on the Mississippi/Alabama border east of Columbus. Radar estimates are not the final word, but they are useful. So far, these Skywatcher reports as of several hours ago:
0.58 Coker, west of Tuscaloosa/Northport
1.44 Northfork, Marion County near Hamilton
1.12 Bear Creek, NE Marion County
1.70 Fayette
We will post a more complete list of rain amounts later this morning. It has been a steady, soaking rain all night. Many places in Mississippi had already received two inches by nightfall Friday.
Only lightning I could find on lightning detection equipment at this hour was one new stroke near New Orleans
