Finally, late tonight, after two days with big thunderstorms and king-size rain amounts, Alabama weather was slowly settling down.
Actually, the storms are moving away.
At 10:45 tonight, the last of the big storms were moving east along and near I-20 in Cleburne County and headed toward Atlanta.
There has been some healthy rain amounts tonight. A couple of examples:
1.38 Muscadine
1.86 Jacksonville
A Flash Flood Warning was necessary in Calhoun County at one time tonight. For a time, the rain was coming down at the rate of 6.26 inches per hour at Muscadine.
Dry air was slowly pushing into North Alabama. This will give us a clean break from storms and excess humidity over the weekend. Look for some early lows as cool as the 50s Sunday morning and Monday morning, especially in the cooler North Alabama valleys.
I guess we should send a thank you note to Miss Claudette except that she is long gone. She left her calling card–a deep ocean of humid air. A lot of Alabama communities got caught up on rain deficiencies!
