Several (bands) (lines) (clusters) of showers and storms moved northward through Alabama this afternoon and continued tonight. One of those clusters late tonight has broken up into an area of scattered showers and thunderstorms over NW Alabama, mainly in Marion, Winston and NW Walker Counties.

Meanwhile, down south, more storms were moving up from South Alabama. At 11:00 p.m., there was a broad zone of showers and thunderstorms from Sumter, Greene and Hale Counties over on the west side of the state eastward to Chilton, Montgomery, Autauga and Lowndes Counties. A number of storms in that group were producing very heavy rain.

These storms should reach the Greater Birmingham area around the witching hour of midnight, or soon thereafter.

Earlier tonight the National Weather Service in Mobile posted a Flash Flood Warning for Crenshaw and Butler Counties in South Alabama. At one time there was also a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Crenshaw County.

At 9:45 tonight, the Lowndes County EMA Office reported scattered trees down along County Road 23 and 26 and also County Road 37 in Lowndes County.
