A family of thunderstorms has been working its way slowly southward down the west side of the state all evening.
At 10:30 tonight, most of those thunderstorms were around Livingston and Demopolis and another cluster further south over Monroe County.
There were no thunderstorms in progress elsewhere around the state. There was considerable lightning in both West and SW Alabama storms, especially in the Livingston and Demopolis area.
That same group of storms triggered a Flash Flood Warning in East/Central Mississippi including the Meridian area. The NWS in Birmingham issued an Areal Flood Advisory for Sumter County in West Alabama until 11:15. This includes the cities of York, Livingston and Cuba. It was due to that slow-moving cluster of thunderstorms near Livingston, which has produced localized rain amounts of 2 inches in a short period of time resulting in minor street and small stream flooding. An additional 1 inch of rain is possible.
It has been another very hot day across Alabama and you can look for some more similar temperatures Thursday. A few sample highs:
96 Anniston, Birmingham
97 Troy, Auburn
99 Evergreen, Montgomery, Dothan
I feel sure when all reports are in that we will hear of some 100-degree temperatures.
