RIGHT NOW: The sky is clearing right on time this afternoon as the storms move out of Alabama. Rain amounts earlier today were heavier than forecast… our Skywatcher in the small community of Scrougeout, in Etowah County northeast of Gadsden, reports 1.72″. Most spots picked up around one inch of rain, which was actually a very good thing to give the pollen a temporary flush.

TOMORROW THROUGH THE WEEKEND: Sunny mild days, clear cool nights. Highs around 70 tomorrow, low 70s Saturday, and mid 70s Sunday. We will be down around 40 both tomorrow and Saturday morning, and the colder valleys will drop into the low to mid 30s with a chance of frost. The coldest morning should be early Saturday when the wind will be near calm. A picture perfect weekend for all of the Indy Car events at the Barber Motorsports Park.

DRY NEXT WEEK: Still no sign of rain next week… a ridge aloft takes over keeping the rain producing systems west and north of Alabama. Highs will be in the upper 70s and low 80s for the most part.

Quite frankly, the weather looks pretty dry through the end of the month, with temperatures above average values. See the Weather Xtreme video for more. Certainly no sign of any severe weather problems.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 30 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40. You can even listen here on the blog; look for the player on the top left.
