The dense fog that formed across parts of the area early this morning has dissipated, leaving a beautiful day for now in most spots.

On the radar right now…however…there is a moderate shower/wannabe thunderstorm moving ENE toward Lake Logan Martin in the Pell City/Riverside area.

Looking west…

…showers and storms in eastern Arkansas will move eastward, or east northeastward and reach Northwest Alabama around 3 p.m. this afternoon. They will be ingesting some very unstable air over Mississippi, so there is a good chance that they will be quite strong when they make it into our state.
…showers and storms a little further south in Central Arkansas will pass south of Little Rock as they push eastward. These could reach West Central Alabama by 5 p.m. or so. Again, they will have a healthy diet of unstable air to feast upon as they cross the Magnolia State also…and they could be on the strong side also.

Storms could also form over Mississippi or Alabama ahead of these complexes, so keep that in mind.

The SPC has areas of Central Mississippi back into Arkansas and Louisiana outlooked for a slight risk of severe weather today. They have much of Alabama in a 5% probability area for damaging winds today, with the 5% hail area nosing into West Alabama.

So be alert to the potential for damaging winds, maybe some hail and lots of deadly lightning if the storms come your way.

Showers and storms will be rather likely through tomorrow as a large upper trough swings out of the Plains over the next couple of days. In its wake, we will see drier weather for the early part of the new work week.
