Not a great deal of action across Alabama at mid-day but that will change this afternoon.

Scattered showers were already developing, most of them from West Central Alabama down into the SW corner of the state.

Morning upper air soundings show plenty of deep tropical moisture over the state–thanks to Miss Claudette. Afternoon heating will make good use of that moisture–transforming it into showers and thunderstorms that may become numerous, at least in clusters.

Many of these will dump a whole lot of rain in a short time.

Morning model runs still point to a nice weekend for our area. In fact, the GFS points to a low of 62 for Birmingham Sunday morning with all day dew points around 60. Translation: Comfortable.

We shall see and of course will wear a big wide smile when it happens!
