It was 90 in Tuscaloosa at 3:00 p.m., 88 in Huntsville, Anniston, Alexander City and Birmingham, 89 in Montgomery, 90 in Evergreen and Tuscaloosa.
A few communities in NW Alabama have received some beneficial rain this afternoon. At 3:20 p.m., the stronger storms were over Marion County near Hamilton and moving slowly toward the SW. Earlier there were a few severe thunderstorm warnings in NW Alabama with several reports of hail. At least 90% of Alabama is not getting any rain this afternoon.
Over in North Mississippi, the thunderstorms were more numerous and dumping locally heavy amounts of rain. The NWS in Memphis reports that 2 to 4 inches of rain has fallen in about 2 hours over parts of NE Mississippi. They issued a Flash Flood Warning until 5:00 p.m. for Pontotoc County. This warning includes the city of Pontotoc.
