NWS/Huntsville, in a special weather statement, extended the Significant Weather Alert for SE Marshall County until 9:30.

They did that because a small area of thunderstorms was producing heavy rain between Mountain View and Boaz. Movement was so slow (toward the NE at only 5 mph) that there was time enough to dump some heavy rain. Mainly affected will be:

Albertville
Rabbit Town
Mountain View
Hustleville
Boaz

Earlier, the Boaz Police Department had barracaded several roads that were flooded by running water.

ELSEWHERE IN ALABAMA
Besides those showers and storms over the NE, there was another group of showers and some thunderstorms over East-Central Alabama, mainly in Coosa, Tallapoosa and South Clay Counties. There was a single one along the Chilton/Clay County line near Lay Dam.

Over on the west side of the state, moderate to heavy showers and maybe a thunderstorm over North Sumter County, especially near the small communities of Geiger, Hammer and Sumterville. They extend over into the west edge of Greene County. Movement is toward the NE and ENE rather slowly. The City of Eutaw in Green County may get some heavy rain later.
