Wow… this morning TV shift keeps you hopping. Almost non-stop since 4:30 a.m. here at ABC 33/40, but at least I am in a dry, warm place, unlike the reporters and our other meteorologists in the field.

A few quick notes after a quick glimpse at weather data (quick is the key word this morning)….

*The 12Z NAM shows a very cold weekend, and keeps the snow with the Gulf wave over far South Alabama. The chance of snow will be better in Dothan than Birmingham if this run is correct. BUT, I think the models have no clue in this difficult pattern.

*Model output statistics (MOS) products remain laughable… way way too warm for the next seven days.

Just look at the satellite and watch the disturbed southern stream. Will be a very challenging forecast for the next seven days. Calling the “cold and unsettled” pattern last week was easy; nailing the details is very hard.

I will have a full discussion and fresh video posted by 3:30 this afternoon…
