Skipping around to a lot of places:

GATLINBURG
Low of 8 below to 6 above expected Friday morning with the coldest in the high country. Wind chill as low as -20 Friday! In the Great Smoky Mountain National Park, the low atop Mt. Leconte this morning was an even zero with three inches of snow on the ground. Low of 19 in Gatlinburg.

GRAND FORKS
Wind chill today in that North Dakota city as low as -48. Actual high temperature expected today 10 to 15 below.

WORLD FAMOUS INTERNATIONAL FALLS
That is about as far north that you can go in Minnesota without crossing into Canada. High today 10 below to 15 below, low tonight 30 to 35 below. That dreaded ole wind chill (why did they have to invent that?) will be as low as -50! That city is a household name for cold temperatures. (Well, maybe just among weather humans)

CHICAGO
3 to 6 inches of additional snow today blown about by gusts to 30 mph. High 10 to 15. Bitter cold tonight with low of -12 suburbs and -4 downtown with a -30 wind chill. High Thursday zero to -4. Wind chill -35.

SARANAC LAKE
That beautiful area of NE New York has had a winter to remember. It was 13 below there at mid morning today. Low tonight should be 13 to 19 below. They have had much, much snow.

FORT YUKON
Low there this morning was “only” -28. Much of Alaska now “milder” if you can call it that. It is because that huge blockbuster mass of arctic air decided to pack it up and go south looking for warmer weather. Trying to find my house. In Fairbanks where it was common lately to have a high of about -30 and a low of -40, the high yesterday was PLUS 12 and the low this morning 2 above. They have 14 inches of snow on the ground. Valdez, Alaska has 33 inches.

SASKATCHEWAN
-40 in Buffalo Rapids and -45 in Stony Rapids this morning. Saying that to illustrate how the main bubble of coldest air has moved more southward into Canada.

ORLANDO
Yep, they will feel some cold air also but mild as compared to Alabama. They expect lows of 35 both Friday night and Saturday night. High Friday 55 and breezy.

MOUNT WASHINGTON
We can’t close without looking in on that famous New Hampshire mountain which holds the world record for the highest wind gust. They are now reporting 22 below zero with visibility near zero (1/16th of a mile if you want to be exact) in blowing snow and fog (station is in the clouds) Wind from the NW averaging 95 mph with gusts to 106!

Enough said…outta here
