There were some showers over Etowah County and the Gadsden area during the last hour, but they have moved quickly toward the NE. By far, the main activity now is over the southern part of the state from about Coosa County all the way down to Baldwin County and the Gulf Coast. It is a line of showers and thunderstorms.
This includes some intense thunderstorms near the Alabama-Florida border. The NWS in Mobile has issued a Tornado Warning for Central Escambia County until noon. The thunderstorm that could produce a tornado was 16 miles SW of Brewton and moving NE at 35 mph.

With the sun coming out this afternoon, there will be some more scattered showers and thunderstorms developing. Probably the stronger ones will be over East and South Alabama.
A cold front (well, let’s say a cool front) was still over in Mississippi at midday. Some showers and storms could develop along that front as it moves into Alabama. It is warm and very humid across Alabama now. That front will bring much drier air.
