ABC 33/40 Weather Blog Highlights: AlabamaWx.com

Great news—the extreme drought areas of Central and South Texas are getting some beneficial rain. For example, on Saturday there was 1.74 inches in Dallas/Ft. Worth with a high of only 73. San Angelo had 2.34 inches of rain, San Antonio 1.05, Waco 1.42. The high temperatures have backed way off from persistent highs of around 100 or above to the 70s.

On another subject, it seems like everything from wildfires to the price of toothpaste is being blamed on global warming. I noticed that CBS 60 Minutes last Sunday blamed the California wildfires on global warming and an expert from the University of Arizona in forestry agreed.

Others say that the arctic is melting and that polar bears in a few years will have no ice to stand on.

Please explain to me then these official temperatures this past January:
68 below zero at Chicken, Alaska
65 below at O’Brien Creek
61 below at Northway Airport

Low temperatures at the Fairbanks International Airport had been below 45 below zero for five days leading up to January 8 this year. Not much global warming based on that.
