**No afternoon Weather Xtreme video today due to travel**

I am on the road this afternoon… spoke in Montgomery at midday, and will be in Vance shortly for a big event at the Mercedes plant. Will get back to the regular two a day schedule tomorrow…

RIGHT NOW: As expected, scattered showers and thunderstorms have returned to Alabama this afternoon in a very moist airmass. See the radar below captured a little before 2:30…

THE DAYS AHEAD: The NAM continue to be the better performing model… and it shows a pretty decent coverage of showers and storms tomorrow, thinning out a bit Friday. Not enough confidence really to get cute with changing POPs on a daily basis through the weekend (POP=probability of precipitation)… so again we will continue to broad brush the forecast with a chance of scattered, mostly afternoon and evening showers and storms through the weekend. Highs will stay in the 90-94 degree range with a mix of sun and clouds on a daily basis.

And, quite frankly, we will keep the persistence forecast going next week. Good ole summer in Alabama.

TROPICS: While Tropical Storm Bret seems to be fizzling out in the Atlantic, another disturbance east of Bermuda looks well organized, and could become Tropical Storm Cindy tonight or tomorrow. This one will move northeast over the open water of the Central and North Atlantic and won’t bother anybody except the ships at sea. The Gulf of Mexico remains quiet.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 90 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40.
