An all new edition of the ABC 33/40 Weather Xtreme video is available in the player below. You can subscribe to the Weather Xtreme video on iTunes by clicking here.

TROPICAL AIR: Rich low level moisture will hang over Alabama through Friday, so each day we will have to mention scattered showers and storms, possibly numerous at times. Afternoon highs will remain mostly in the mid to upper 80s (now that isn’t bad for August in Alabama!), and the sky will be generally cloudy with a few peeks of sun from time to time.

Showers and storms should be most numerous on Friday with a surface front will approach from the north, supported by a strong upper trough forming over the eastern U.S. Rain amounts between now and Friday night will be in the one to two inch range for most places, although we all know some communities can be short changed due to the convective nature of the precipitation.

DRY WEEKEND: The front should be deep into South Alabama by daybreak Saturday, and our weekend looks excellent, with mostly sunny days, fair cooler nights, and lower humidity levels. Highs in the mid to upper 80s, and lows well down in the 60s. Some of the cooler places should reach the 50s by early Sunday morning, a nice preview of fall. The dry weather should continue into Monday, but the 12Z GFS shows moisture creeping back in here from the east on Tuesday.

TROPICS: Big bad Bill is now packing sustained winds of 105 mph, and is about 700 miles east of the Leeward Islands. No real change in the thinking on this one; it will become a major hurricane, but should recurve into the Atlantic before reaching the East Coast of the U.S. The big storm will be just west of Bermuda Saturday, based on the official forecast track from the NHC.

Still no sign of Ana getting her act together again; we will keep an eye on that wave which is near Cuba this afternoon.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 30 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40. You can even listen here on the blog; look for the player on the top left.
