A complex of intensifying storms is over Middle Tennessee at this hour, moving south southeastward.

This complex will affect Alabama later tonight.

A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for the intense storm approaching Waynesboro, TN, which is about 50 miles NNW of Florence.

Over Northeast Alabama, storms have rapidly developed over Jackson and DeKalb Counties, moving through the Scottsboro area heading toward Collinsville. These storms could become severe as they continue dropping southeastward.

Another storm was passing through Guntersville. This storm will pass just north of Gadsden if it holds together.

Severe weather is possible across Alabama overnight, with the main threat coming from damaging winds. Be alert to changing conditions and possible warnings overnight.

Next update at 12:30 a.m. or sooner if warnings are issued for the NWS Birmingham county warning area.
