There are some that will say the forecast of record cold this morning was a bust. And since there was not a record low at Birmingham this morning, I have to admit that they would be correct in their evaluation. But weather and horseshoes have a lot in common, and the forecast was really quite good. It WAS unseasonally cold this morning. How cold you ask? How about these observations:

  • new record low of 26 at Huntsville breaking the old low of 28 set in 1958
  • new record low of 25 at Pinson breaking the old record of 27 last set in 1990
  • new record low of 26 at Muscle Shoals breaking the old record of 30 set in 1939
  • Roebuck 27
  • Helena 29
  • Black Creek 24
  • Vinemont 27
  • Greystone Farms 28
  • Clanton 32 (Skycam site)
  • Mt. Cheaha 28
  • Maybe it’s because I’ve been in this business too long, but I have to believe that the forecast really was good on this one. And with beautifully clear skies we’re already seeing temperatures crowding the 50-degree mark. Enjoy the fine Spring weather.
