The 11 am observation at the Birmingham airport showed 75, so we have set a new record high for this date in weather history. Now the question is by how much will we beat the old record? The old record was 73 set in 1972. And the sky over Central Alabama remained nearly cloud-free at 11 am. So could we actually get to 80? Probably not but with over four hours of good sunshine left in the day, it is not completely impossible. We’ll see.

PS Just as I entered this, the NWS in Birmingham updated their forecast to a high of 79 degrees today. It sure it going to be close.
