The SPC has included western Alabama in a Slight risk outlook for severe weather this afternoon and evening.

The primary threat for severe weather will be damaging wind and hail, with about a 10% chance that winds of 58 mph or greater or hail 1 inch or larger in diameter will occur within 25 miles of your location if you are over western Alabama. There is about a 5% chance there will be a tornado within 25 miles of your location over West Alabama.

The best chances for severe weather will be this afternoon as the airmass becomes unstable and upper level wind patterns remain favorable for organized storms.

The chances will continue overnight however, as a disturbance swings across the area along with colder air aloft, raising the chances for hail. As the probabilities indicate, the chance of a tornado cannot be ruled out.
