It is in effect until 11:00 tonight for almost all of Mississippi except the extreme north. This Tornado Watch also includes the rest of SE Louisiana, including the New Orleans area. The Watch also includes the Louisiana/Mississippi coastal waters. The east edge of the watch comes all the way over to the Alabama border.

This fits in very well with our projections that the main line of intense thunderstorms will arrive in West Alabama late tonight toward midnight and it will be several hours after that before they reach the Birmingham area.

Things could speed up, so we will watch it closely.

At 2:45 pm, the nearest strong thunderstorms to Alabama were over in Louisiana. This does not mean that others could not form ahead of the main action later.

Much coffee will go down the tubes tonight.
