The Storm Prediction Center also continues their High Risk designation for severe weather across a large part of Alabama today, including all of the greater Birmingham area. This means there is a possibility of a few devastating tornadoes and some that could remain on the ground for a long time.
At 7:40 this morning, the stronger thunderstorms still in Alabama were over the NE corner of the state. Other storms were developing in Franklin and Colbert Counties in NW Alabama.
Much of Central Alabama is getting a break from the storms, including the Tuscaloosa-Birmingham-Anniston areas.
THE GATHERING STORM
But off to the west, new energy is getting organized and thunderstorms will become powerful as they move toward the east.
TIME LINE
We believe the main danger area will start on the west side of the state later this morning and in the Birmingham area by midday and over on the east side of the state early this afternoon. That could change so stay tuned.
