An up-to-the minute radar check at 5:50 p.m. shows very strong thunderstorms from Central Walker County northward into Eastern Franklin County in NW Alabama. Also some strong storms over West St. Clair and extreme NE Jefferson County. Some of the most powerful storms were in West/Central Alabama from near Moundville in North Hale County southward to near Havana and Greensboro and into North Marengo County near Demopolis. Those storms were moving south rather slowly and undoubtedly causing some flood problems. All of the big storms are overloaded with very dangerous lightning.
