Healthy amounts of rain coming down in several areas of Alabama tonight. Here is the story as of 9:40 pm:
1. Heaviest rain over North Tuscaloosa, Fayette, South Marion County in West and NW Alabama. That area also has some of the worst lightning.
2. Another area of heavy rain in East Alabama in Coosa, Tallapoosa, South Talladega and South Clay County. NWS/Birmingham continues an Areal Flood Advisory for Coosa County until 10:15 tonight. This is short of a Flash Flood Warning. One to two inch of rain had already occurred when it was issued and an additional one to two inches was possible
3. Another area of rain SE of Montgomery.
4. Still another batch of heavy rain in far SW Alabama mostly over Monroe and Clarke County.
All of these storms were taking their time and not moving very much. Overall, the showers and storms were not as numerous as late this afternoon and earlier tonight
