In fact, the only showers in Alabama at 12:15 pm were moving onshore from the Gulf into Baldwin County. Moving north.
The nearest showers or thunderstorms west of Alabama were over North Central Mississippi. They were moving NE.
Further west, tornado watches were in effect for these areas:
…..Most of Louisiana except the SE part
…..Extreme East Texas
…..Most of Oklahoma
…..Extreme NW Arkansas
…..Extreme SW Missouri
…..Extreme SE Kansas
Three separate tornado watches
The SPC Outlook has a slight risk all the way from the Louisiana Coast north to Southern Iowa. This includes almost all of Mississippi and Louisiana, East and NE Texas, most of Oklahoma and Kansas, SE Nebraska, South Iowa, Central and South Illinois, the extreme west parts of Kentucky and Tennessee and the NW corner of Alabama.
In that big slight risk area is an enhanced Moderate Risk (very unusual for October) which covers all of Arkansas, South Missouri, East Oklahoma and the extreme NE edge of Texas.
