At 12 noon, a broad band of moderate to heavy showers extended all the way from Indianapolis southward to Nashville, across NW Alabama to Meridian in East Mississippi and finally to New Orleans.

Some of the heaviest rain was over South Mississippi south of Jackson.

Moderate to heavy showers were over West-Central and NW Alabama from Pickens County northward through Lamar, West Fayette, Marion, Franklin, Colbert and Lauderdale Counties. Based on radar estimates, some of the heaviest rainfall amounts so far are west of Columbus, Mississippi.

Very little lightning.

The whole system is shifting eastward, but rather slowly. Looks like it will be 2:00 p.m. or later before many of these showers reach the greater Birmingham area. In West Alabama, they will be moving into Tuscaloosa County by around 1:00 this afternoon.
