It is all over but the shouting. Just before 7:00 tonight a few strong storms persisted in extreme East Alabama.

Look how these dew points drop off rapidly as you go west.
65 at Shelby County Airport
34 at Muscle Shoals
33 at Columbus, Miss.
28 at Greenwood, Miss.
Translation: much, much drier air is quickly spreading into Alabama from the west. It will be clearing later tonight and by morning temperatures will be down in the chilly 40s. Much sunshine tomorrow with a high near 70. Friday should have lots of sunshine, but clouds will increase late with some scattered showers and thunderstorms starting after midnight Friday night.
NEXT STORM EVENT
Saturday looks like the day. A lot of showers and thunderstorms will advance eastward across the state and some of those may be severe. Sunday will be clearing windy and much cooler.

This is only a sampling of reports received this afternoon. In fact, this group is less than one-half of the reports. In no particular order:
5:26 PM…large hail, 2.75 inches in diameter near Wetumpka in Elmore County
5:20 PM…hail 1.75 inches in diameter 2 miles east of Alexander City
5:00 PM…widespread hail across the south part of Elmore County
3:30 PM…(approximate) 1.75 inch hail 5 miles east of Demopolis
3:37 PM…1.75 inch hail near Brent, Bibb County
3:20 PM…8 miles west of Warrior, Sheriff’s Office reported tornado on the ground
5:53 PM…3/4 inch hail near the Lafayette/Chambers County line
3:12 PM…multiple reports of trees down throughout SE Choctaw County
5:30 PM…tornado on the ground near US 280 and County Road 49
In the Bagley community in extreme NW Jefferson County, there was damage to a home, a workshop, a mobile home was overturned, large trees were uprooted.
At mid afternoon, 20 to 30 trees were uprooted in the Randolph Community in the SE corner of Bibb County.
