While much of North Alabama is free of adverse weather, the thunderstorms just won’t give up further south. At 8:30 tonight, there was a wide band of storms from Marengo County on the west side of the state eastward across the Montgomery area to Macon and Lee Counties in the east. The storms were moving toward the east.
NWS/Birmingham issued another Severe Thunderstorm Warning until 9:00 tonight for extreme East/Central Montgomery County, Northern Bullock County and Southern Macon County. This included the city of Union Springs. Weather Service doppler radar indicated a severe thunderstorm, which could produce penny-size hail and damaging winds over 60. This storm was located about 11 miles NW of Union Springs near the community of Hardaway and moving east at 35. Winds of 60 to 70 mph are possible. The Weather Service also indicated some weak rotation within the storm. While not immediately likely, a tornado may still develop.
