The first storms of the day were beginning to cross the Mississippi border into West and NW Alabama at mid-afternoon.
At 2:45 p.m., thunderstorms were moving into Lamar, Marion, Colbert and Franklin Counties from East Mississippi. These storms are sporting quite a bit of lightning. They are sort of a spin-off from a dangerous cluster of big storms moving across Arkansas. Those in Arkansas are featuring a distinct bow echo, which means that some trees are probably coming down.
The storms will continue moving east into North and Central Alabama this afternoon. Still others will be forming in the heat of the day. The Storm Prediction Center continues a Slight Risk for the north two-thirds of Alabama. To our west, a Moderate West covers much of North Mississippi and a Severe Thunderstorm Watch is already in effect for much of Arkansas and North Mississippi over to the Alabama border.
We are running a bit late on the 7-Day Planner and the afternoon E-Forecast. It will be ready in just a few minutes.
