An all new edition of the ABC 33/40 Weather Xtreme Video is available in the player below and on iTunes.

It looks like our weather pattern, which has been rather blah for some time as evidenced by the drought, appears to be in a changing mode. It seems if the GFS is right we’re going to see a parade of weather systems over the next couple of weeks – two during the coming week.

A short wave will kick out of Texas tonight and Sunday bringing mostly clouds for us in Alabama. But there is some small hope that the system will actually produce a few showers. I think most of us will stay dry unfortunately. So look for a mix of clouds and sun today and more clouds on Sunday. Temperatures won’t change a great deal though the clouds may knock a few degrees off our highs Sunday with highs in the upper 60s.

Monday starts Thanksgiving week with good weather as a ridge comes into place as the short wave trough zips quickly by. But bigger changes are on tap for Wednesday and Thursday. The next system should begin affecting us late Tuesday as moisture increases ahead of the system. We should also see a nice warm up. I don’t think we’ll see much in the way of rain chances on Tuesday, but it seems that Wednesday should be our best day for some rain. The rain should end Wednesday night or early Thursday as that system moves by briskly with clearing skies and drier and colder air coming into Central Alabama. Looks like another shot at freezing temperatures on Friday morning as a surface high settles into the Southeast US. That cold will help put a bit of briskness into the biggest shopping day of the year.

Rainfall amounts are not expected to be spectacular, but a good half inch for many locations will sure be nice.

Nothing happening in the tropics as the 2007 hurricane season winds down.

My Blog post title comes from the fact that the GFS is forecasting a steady stream of weather systems for us as the overall pattern remains progressive. The latest run suggests a shot at some rain around the 27th and again around the 29th. The GFS keeps a trough over the east with enough amplitude to keep weather systems moving across Central Alabama. The details may change but this sure is optimistic for some rain. None of these rain events, however, look like real drought busters especially with the progressive pattern keeping the systems moving quickly.

Off to Hoover today for the Pet-A-Palooza – hope you can come out and enjoy the festivities. I should have another Weather Xtreme Video posted tomorrow morning around 8 am or so. I hope you have a great weekend. Enjoy life and be sure to say thanks for all those around you who love and care for you. God bless.
