Most of the heavier rain has shifted over into extreme East and SE Alabama. The Tornado Watch for the extreme SW part of the state expired at 11:00 a.m.
A new Tornado Watch goes until 4:00 p.m. for extreme SE Alabama, a number of counties in North Florida and extreme SW Georgia. Only five counties in Alabama are included.
We received a late morning report from Mike McCormick in Ashland (Clay County). He reported heavy rain and some heavy thunder that lasted over 30 minutes. The rain in Ashland should be diminishing shortly.
The Storm Prediction Center still has practically the entire state outlooked for a slight risk of severe weather later today and tonight. So far, not much additional development to our west. However, we will be watching for new thunderstorms to develop closer to the cold front in Mississippi and East Louisiana and then moving eastward.
