**No afternoon Weather Xtreme video today**
I will be down at the BJCC for live weather at 5:00 and 6:00 from the Alabama Sports Festival. Then, I will be with my 12u All-Star baseball team in the “parade of athletes” during the opening ceremonies, which will be broadcast live on ABC 33/40 at 7:00. I will be old guy with no hair with a bunch of knuckleheads wearing “Hoover East” uniforms.
RIGHT NOW: At 1:00… Birmingham is reporting 91 degrees. Model guidance believes we should be at 98 right now; once again the soil moisture is helping to keep the heat down. Statical guidance for the weekend remains in the upper 90s and is rejected. But, the muggy factor is sky high; Birmingham’s dewpoint is 72, making the current heat index 98. Pretty oppressive out there.
THE WEEKEND: Not much change through Sunday, with hot and dry weather for most of the state. Highs in the mid 90s with little chance of a cooling shower or storm as the heat ridge holds.
NEXT WEEK: The core of the ridge shifts to the west, but heights are not as low as previous model runs, which means any storms that form during the week should be pretty widely spaced. Highs will be mostly in the low 90s.
TD1E: A tropical depression will move into the west coast of Mexico tonight; moisture is already streaming from that disturbance up into the western half of Texas, where they could see some enhanced rain totals over the weekend. The Atlantic basin stays quiet this weekend.
