Here is some useful information as posted in the comment section of the ABC 33/40 weather blog from our readers:
* Don Strength in Randolph County (EMA guy and morning drive radio guy) JUST PEACHY HERE IN RANDOLPH COUNTY.. TEMP 37.0 (Roanoke) and all the kids are in school!!!!!
* Angela in Berry: Deck and porch covered in ice. Ice hanging from vinyl siding.
* Debby near where Jefferson, St. Clair and Blount County converge: In my tri-county area, deck, mailbox, garbage can, trampoline all covered in a fine glaze. Almost could not get the truck open this morning around 7:00 to feed the cows. The bed was covered as well as the windshield and, of course, the doors. No problem on the road that I noticed.
* Erin from Strait Mountain: I live atop Strait Mountain next to the highest point in Blount County outside of Oneonta and I cannot get down my steps because they are frozen solid. There is ice on my vehicle, but I cannot tell if the ground is frozen or not since I cannot get down to check.
* Jay in South Cullman County: My porch and steps had a nice amount of ice on it.
* Argus in NE Georgia: Keep all of that to my west and I will be happy. It is partly sunny and 36 here in NE Georgia.
* Stormlover: Just drove in from work through the city of Hamilton and all roads seem fine. Just a light icing on some elevated surfaces. Of course, this could change if the temperature does not rise.
Surely we can get lighthearted for a moment. I do not believe in being 100% serious hardly anytime. So, here is a quote for the day from my long time friend, Ralph Kopsel, in DeKalb County. “My first job was working in an orange juice factory, but I got canned because I could not concentrate.” (I worked for a long time with Ralph at the NWS at 11 West Oxmoor Road. He retired a year ago from the NWS Regional Office in Anchorage and moved back to Alabama.)
