Training thunderstorms continue across a northwest to southeast band across Northwest to South Central Alabama this morning.

The heaviest rain/lightning at this hour is…

…from east of Fayette to just south of Jasper
…from south of Jasper to west of downtown Birmingham
…the southeastward along Highway 280 to near Alexander City
…west of Cullman

The heaviest rain now appears to be shifting a little southward into northern Tuscaloosa, western and southern Jefferson and soon into northern Shelby Counties.

Another large area of moderate to heavy rain extends from the Prattville area through Montgomery and on up I-85.

The thinking is that the rain will continue through much of the morning before diminishing this afternoon. Goods news for thirsty lawns and ending just in time for the Southern League All Star game tonight at Regions Park.

3.49 inches of rain yesterday afternoon and overnight here in Trussville. That corresponds well to the Doppler radar totals. The area from Huntsville down to east of Gadsden to east of Heflin appears to be the big winner in the rainfall department with some 4-5 inch amounts possible. 2.34 inches at the Birmingham Airport so far, with 1.12 of that falling in just the past hour.
