Who was it that sang “Raindrops Keep Falling on my Head” in the Butch Cassidy movie? Was that BJ Thomas? Anyway, I got a little wet getting these pictures the other night, but with the floodlights and flash, the shutter speed was 1/60, which to me is not bad. I mentioned a little about some of the research going on at UAH on raindrop size distributions and measurements using the MIPS at StormAlert Extreme. These raindrops look pretty big.
People sometimes wonder about the difference between light rain and heavy rain. In heavy rain, are the drops bigger? Do they fall faster? Are there more of them? I’ll have an in-depth post by Monday on some of the measurements from last week’s rain event, and can show you how the raindrops changed with time. Cool stuff.
