As we noted over the weekend, it appears that we might have two shots at rain this week – one coming late tomorrow and tomorrow night primarily and another one late Thursday into Friday. And the QPF projections are looking a little higher than the 1 to 2 inches I was noting this weekend. But just where do we stand for rainfall.

The magic number for Birmingham is 4.57 inches of rain before we ring in 2009. That rain amount would make 2008 an average year rain-wise for Birmingham which is 53.99 inches of rain based on the 30-year average or normal.

I know we’ve had our ups and downs in 2008 with some months pretty wet and some months pretty dry. But IF we reach the annual average of 53.99 inches of rain, that would be over 25 inches more than we got in ALL of 2007.

Of course, what rain we get depends on nature, so let the rain fall!!
