Keeping those eyes on the temperature. At the Birmingham airport, the noon temperature was 67 which is actually 2 degrees cooler than the same time yesterday. A quick peek at the visible satellite imagery, and it looks like some sunshine will get through with breaks seen in the cloud cover. Clouds did seem a bit thicker in Central Alabama. At 10 am, the airport temperature was actually 2 degrees above the same time yesterday.
The southeast corner of the state is completely clear. So IF we can get some good breaks in the clouds and get a bit of the sun, we still stand a chance of tying or breaking the high temperature record for today. The record is 74 set back in 1946.
Interesting to note that Southwest Georgia is already in the lower 80s, and Columbus, MS, was at 76 at noon. Tuscaloosa was at 72, too. So it is going to be close.
If the weather is going to be warm, might as well set a record!! More later as time permits.
