The story for our weather is changing very little as the upper ridge remains the primary factor in our weather for the foreseeable future.

For today and Saturday, a weakness in the ridge together with a respectable trough moving through the westerlies could give us our best chances for rain. The trough moves on Sunday and as we head into next week the upper ridge builds strongly back across the Southeast. This means a continuation of isolated daily storms together with HEAT!! I would not be surprised to see highs by the latter half of next week get into the 100 to 103 range.

Rainfall amounts will be quite varied. If you get under a shower, you could see 1 to 2 inches of rain, but because of the character of the weather, not everyone will even see rain.

SPC continued to focus slight risks well to our north where the westerlies continue to roll along. Tropics still relatively quiet with some very disorganized showers in the western Caribbean with no signs of any storm development at the moment.

Looking way ahead, the GFS suggests another possible weakness in the ridge around the 26th of July. But the latter half of July appears likely to be dominated by the upper ridge and the heat.

Nice shower last night that forced the postponement of a pool outing but also brought 68 hundredths of an inch to my rain gauge – my best rain for the month of July. I plan to have the next Weather Xtreme Video posted here by 8 am or so tomorrow morning. Have a great day and Godspeed.
